| Re: cocking the wrists Careful with an early wrist cock especially when its a less than perfect lie. Its very easy to uncock them early as well and thats when all sorts of nasty things happen.
Ian suggests a quiet body with it and he's quite right. Practice this a lot first though because you need to know the feel pretty well before you use it in play. The habit of the correct body motion is a hard thing to throw away just for one or two shots a round. If you have lots of practice its easier to feel the shot when you need it.
As for the length of swing for the flop and the sand shot, I can only help you with the sand shot since I dont have a lob wedge and never play flop shots (links golf.......not much call for it). I use the same length of swing for every sand shot around the green. If I want to hit it further I either hit it harder or vary the amount of sand I take. This is not the best way to play it, mind you. I think most people have better luck varying the length of the swing. Try both methods and see which one you get the best feel with.
