If you're slicing as well as shanking, it seems that you are coming from ouside to in. Cocking the wriusts is obviously necessary but you still have to come down on an in-to-out path. Having said this, don't swing back too flat in an effort to achieve this! I know from experience that when concentrating on a specific thing during the swing it is very easy to forget to shift your weight to the left first.
