All clubs are designed to produce back spin, not top spin. If you find a way to get top spin off a club, you'll find it doesn't go too far.

It's pretty safe to say that your 3w head is as heavy as your driver head, if not heavier.

The only thing I can think of if you're hitting these clubs side by side and the 3 wood is going longer in total distance is that you're hitting a downslope on the fly with the 3 wood, creating the extra roll - especially if the trajectory is higher than your driver.

I'm really perplexed by what you're telling me here...
