The lower the par the harder the course.
For example, on a par 5 you have maybe 2 bad shots that you can make up, e.g. a bad drive and a bad second still leaves you a chance with being on in regulation.
On a Par 4 you only have 1
On a par 3 you have none, if you miss the green you need to do something Opecial to make par.
