I have tried a couple of flop shots on the course lately, mainly to get over bunkers next to the green. I just opened the clubface up the same as you would for a sand shot and swung the club underneath the ball. ( Got to be a nice fluffy lie) The ball has just popped up and landed softly on the green with minimum roll. Only problem I have had with it is judging the amount of strength to put into the shot. I would just add that the lie has to be nice and fluffy, if its a tight lie the tendency is to thin the shot 50yds through the green
