| Re: "Over the Top" and "Casting" (slice problems) I see exactly what you're saying cmays. We know that to produce lift, the ball absolutely needs do rotate in a backward motion (backspin). If the ball were to be hit only with sidespin, it would either hook or slice and lift but a few inches off the ground... or not lift at all for that matter. It's simple physics at work here.
