Re: 80-100yd pitch shot

The pitch shot is a shortened version of a full swing. OK, you can use different wedges, swing to different heights and choke down on the grip but try this drill to clarify the setup and swing:

Take a pitching wedge, address the ball with a narrow slightly open stance then take a full back swing. Stop at the top then slowly start a normal downswing, stop when the club is half way down. Your hips should have rotated forward, your weight should be 70% onto your lead foot, your wrists should still be cocked, this is the position you should have at the top of a pitching back swing (no need to go to the top though).

Now hit through the ball with good arm extension and body rotation ensuring the right knee has pushed through. End the follow through with the arms out in front towards the target and the wrists cocked.

Swing at the same tempo for all yardages, just vary the amount of back swing for each distance and match the follow through to the back swing.

Hope this helps.
