Golf columnist David Feherty wrote that it is illegal but not immoral to remove range balls. What do you think? Is it okay if the intention is to return them? | On the two local courses I play, they mark their range balls. If you are caught on the course playing with one of them, you can get kicked off the course or even lose your membership.
Personally, I wouldn't use range balls for reasons already stated in this thread: They've been hit a lot and have their own ball flight characteristics and the machine used for picking them up is hard on the covers. I do donate some of my private balls to the range. After I've played a few rounds with them and the cover is cut up a little, I tee em up on the range and let loose.
