This is my drill, at least 200 Practice swings per night, if not 300. It doesn't take that long to do. My Swing is getting "In the Groove" now. Can't wait to play a round this weekend.

Although I had lessons and the driving range I don’t swing the club at home since I have low ceilings! So, I bought an indoor ball/swing gadget and I left it at my girlfriends. I practice hitting that while looking in the mirror and I have been able to fix some faults that I wasn’t aware of.

I read an article by Ernie Eves and he talked about, in addition to the mechanics of the swing, you have to find your “own swing”. I was too mechanical and thought I would loosen up a little as well, and it is working for me.

I will take lessons through the winter, and indoor swinging, with a mirror will give me a better idea of what I am doing. I know there are many who will disagree with this, but for me, it was a huge mistake to practice swinging without an object in front of me. When I was practicing without an object my motions and pivot were fine. Once I had a ball in front of me I lost my timing and I couldn’t pivot and hit the ball in a coordinated way. My swing was too fast to pivot, and strike the ball – so I hit the ball without pivoting, with my irons, which was a huge power leak and a difficult habit to unlearn. In fact, when under pressure I will resort back to my old bad habits.

So, even if you swing over a quarter on the floor, I would have an object in front of me, IMHO.

Best of luck in your next game, it would be interesting to read on how the game went.
