When it all boils down to it, all that counts is that he enjoys his golf. Many of us are never going to be scratch golfers and that never stops us from playing. My friend Chippa, who I mentioned has a similar swing, loved playing golf and was great fun to play with but there were times when playing with him was like watching a 4 hour car crash. If his timing was off then he would have a nightmare.

If your friend wants to get better or even just more consistent, then he needs some lessons and also needs to increase his flexibility.
