Hey Robin, it has been my experience that what happens is you play somewhere between "par" and "bogey" golf...

My last round out, from memory 6 of my 9 pars come pretty much exactly because of the point you raise, where I missed a GIR I was able to get close and 1 putt. Short game good = good scoring opportunites.
Never mind the blowout holes, we all have them, one round soon you'll have 10 or 12 or more good holes and be shooting low numbers.
