Hey VP...

You should have a gander at the definition of "Stroke" in order to understand just whats what in your question...

Stroke - A "Stroke" is the FORWARD movement of the club made with the intention of striking at and moving the ball...........

Given this, IMO, the backswing does NOT constitute part of your "stroke" at the ball and as such NO, you can not ground the club during the takeaway...
