| Re: Price of golf in Spain Times have changed indeed, my last trip home ( Scotland ) four years ago I listened to relatives complaining about the increasing cost of green fees in Spain. I was fortunate enough to have a round at Royal Troon with a member, the price would have been prohibitive otherwise. For the most part increasing operating costs ( labour, equipment, materials etc. ) are driving green fees upwards. Of course you will find the course operators charging " what the market will bear " that is the greed factor.
I'm fortunate enough to live in an area ( central B.C. ) where we have a number of top class courses and a seven month season. The new club that I joined is a 7000 yard Robert Trent Jones links layout, always in excellent condition. Green fees for non members are about 30 pounds and if you are playing with a member 20 pounds. That would be about the normal cost of the top end courses in this area. Higher green fees all over is becoming a rule of thumb, there is not enough courses who are giving breaks to juniors or to seniors. |
