The object is to square the clubface up at impact. I prefer a strong grip. Therefore I must place the ball farther back in my stance. To check this, grip the club first, try your 8 iron, then take note of the center of your stance, without setting the club down; center being between the heels, not the toes. Now set the clubhead straight down in the center. If the clubface is closed or hooded, you will either snaphook or pull to the left all day with your short irons. Now, with the clubface directly behind the ball, put both feet together, still with the ball in the middle. Move your right foot out to the right about 4 inches then your left foot out a little over a foot. slightly open your left toe. Notice your hands are in the center and the club angles back to the right, clubface perfectly square. This only works with a strong grip. Weker grips are different. Hope this helps...
