A pullout is what your current shafts will be when you upgrade. They're pulled out of your current heads and new ones are put in. If they're pulled properly, they can be re-used in another set of irons. Provided they're not damaged, shafts can be re-used indefinitely.

Generally speaking, you can save a few bucks using pullouts - as they're used.
