| Re: Hybrid @ Nanabush: Yes, hybrids are designed to get the ball up faster than your conventional iron (ie provide a higher ball flight). But they're shorter shafted than the corresponding iron, and heavier-headed, too. This equates to increased accuracy without giving up too much distance. The other bonus is that carry is increased while roll is decreased. (In other words, it's tough to get a bad bounce on one or two hops and a stop).
@ SimonWoo: Don't bother with a proper 3 iron - get a 3 hybrid.
@Patriot07: The SnakeEyes QS hybrids are wonderful. I like the Innovex hybrids as well.
As Gord has already stated, go hit some, then buy what you like. The 2 important factors are 1) you like to swing the club, and 2) it replaces a yardage gap in your current set (ie don't arbitrarily replace a 3H for your 3i, you may find you hit your 3H and your 4i the same distance).

PCS Class 'A' Clubfitter A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.
I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.
For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor. |
