Homemade swing aid

I took a skanky old blade 5 iron I had in the garage and a length of concrete reinforcing iron rod that was also in there. I duct-taped the iron rod to the club shaft, from the handle right down to the club head. Voila, a weighted swing trainer club. I didn't weigh it but I'm guessing it weighs 5 pounds.

I took about 10 easy swings with the weighted club. I don't want to strain any joints or tendons and my main goal is to stretch out my swing, getting a higher backswing and finish. Then I took a regular club and took 20-30 full swings, as I do twice every day now. The "real" swings certainly felt different but it'll take time to see whether any real difference when I hit balls.

I just thought I'd share this way to save about $50 on a swing trainer.
