I also have had this problem when practicing. I hit some solid pitches and then out of nowhere I shank one. I have tried a few things. First, check your aligment. Place a club down in the target direction, then hit the ball with the directional club between your feet and the ball. See how you feel when you are aligned properly. You may not feel like you are aimed at the target at all. I know I feel like I am aimed way left. Second - open your stance a little. this may help to get your hips in the correct position at the point you strike the ball without excessive hip turn. Also for a wedge the ball position should be in the middle of your stance. Hope this helps.
