Follow through

I was at the range the other day. I assume a rather good player offered me some advice as he played college golf at Arizona state. He said that I was turning too much on the follow through and in a sense shortening my swing arc. The club head was moving left of the target line too soon. He suggested that I follow through with the club head moving along the target line more. I have a tendency to pull the ball a bit and after working on this for a couple of days it does seem to help. Also my trajectory is lower - ball starts lower and then goes up. I feel like I am really extending my right arm more out towards the target and feels like maybe more right of the target, than across my body and left of the target line. Has anybody recieved similar advice or does this sound like sound advice?
