You can extend a shaft by up to 2 inches without much trouble.
It will be done from the butt end and is VERY easy to do.

Get an extender (either an aluminium one or a graphite specific one) and stick it in the end of your shaft with epoxy.

I like to install the extender dry first ,measure it and cut it to size before I stick it with the epoxy.
