I think 3inch is a little too long of extension. I have heard that 2inch is about the most as anyone would do.

I had my driver extended by 1/2in and certainly there were not problems with that but it may be better for you to get new shafts, which obviously would involve a lot more cost.

I am sure all the clubmakers on this site will give you some good opinions.
