No, the reporter did NOT approach Wie before she signed her card. The reporter has said explicitly that he did not feel familiar enough with her to approach her until her press conference AFTER she had signed her card. Moreover, in that press conference, which was the only point at which he talked to her about the incident, he never told her he thought she had made a bad drop. He simply asked her questions about how she checked her drop. I don't think anyone at that point thought he was saying she had made a bad drop, and I know that I thought at the time that he was simply asking technical questions about how drops are conducted.
