Hello ladies (and gents too?) I posted to this thread so long ago I forgot
it existed. I have now been playing for four seasons. I live in the NE are
of these United States so seasons run 6-7 months for me. I have seen
gradual improvements. I've gone from being a 38 handicap (or higher when
I started) to a 23 now. When I started out with a beginner's set of women's clubs, I drove the ball (and I mean the good one's) approx. 150 yards.Consistency was a greater issue than the distance. Making contact and keeping the ball in play was my only concern. Now, I try to work with
distance too but that has come because my swing has improved. A
perfectly struck ball will travel anywhere from 175-250 yards off the tee...depending on roll. I currently hit custom made driver and woods. A very good friend of mine builds clubs and made the Tom Wishon driver and woods for me. Ultra lite graphite shafts and Winn grips. My irons are the Nike slingshots. I really like those a lot too and I have an Odyssey two ball blade putter. My short game is really the part of my game that needs to be worked on now. I belong to a club so finding women to play with is not too difficult but I like playing with men too. It betters my game and they are not concerned with how you're playing...they are working on their own game.
By the way, Sally, I can't tell you how many times I've been the only woman on the driving range. The ONLY thing that bothers me when that
happens is that men have a tendency to want to help me or give me advice
on my swing, etc. That drives me crazy...I don't ask and I know they wouldn't do it if I were a man. Oh well. I just smile and say thank you and ask them if they'd like me to watch them swing to see if I can give them any pointers!!

Happy holidays!
