Also, the last head I pulled, I had some WD40 in the shaft (and head), and I found that the epoxy came off really nicely (and easily) and there wasn't too much left in the hosel.

It might be coincidence, or it might not. You may want to try it. (It did leave a bit of a very warm WD40 pool after the head came off, and I dumped the WD40 out.

BTW, after pulling your head, make sure you've got a work glove on to pick it up.
