Re: New Driver Grrrrrr Help

1) What's your average driving distance (please indicate whether that's carry, or carry and roll).

2) If you know it, what's your swing speed?

3) Assuming that you're skying a ball (leaving marks on the top of the driver, or hitting near the top edge of the face), I would assume that you've got a pretty decent swing flaw, and that you're not crushing balls.

That said, I'm interested to know what shaft is in both of your drivers, and I'm willing to offer that you'd probably need a higher lofted driver.

To wit - I played a 9º SMT Spectrum (true loft) with an AccuFlex Evolution in R flex, and was hitting drives ~ 260 yards (carry). I switched to an SMT HP420 10º (true loft) with a Graphite Design YS6 in S flex, and started getting 270 yard carries. On a few rounds, I'd take both drivers, and hit two balls off the tee, and the HP420 was consistently longer.

This has taken me to buying a couple of SMT Nemesis heads, one at 11º and one at 12º, just to see what happens.

My swing speed is ~ 108 MPH with a 45" driver.

Just some food for thought.

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.

I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.

For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.
