Re: O/T RWC: Where are nickers & scragger when we want to gloat

hi
great defense and wonderful game by the forwards, did think France were the better side but could not ware down the English defense.
at worse you will be world cup runners up or at best on par with auz and have two world cup wins.
bit turn around from a few weeks ago.
in the end it did turn around a mistake and a try.
50/50 chance of winning the cup again.
cheers
bill

Not sure if its true but I'm told that we are the only RWC holders ever to contest the next final - speaking of which, the Romantic says Argentina the Pragmatic says SA - that way we won't have bloody Kaplan again as ref.

I really thought England was the better side. Great forwards, competitive backs and what a great weapon Jonny is, he just brings a kind of glue that keeps the side working together and is always a danger man that makes the opposition nervous. And how they tamed Chabel.

Hic myself too. Have been giving up alchohol (long story) but I figured if last night didn't deserve a bottle of red, what did? (and I've got a bloody tournament this morning - Autumn Stableford, during which, we're also playing the second round of the doubles knockout)

Only saw the 2nd half due to acting in a play in the Jane Austen festival in Bath (again, don't ask - long story).

Great game. Part of me sort of says, 'dull rugby' in that I wonder if you'd seen that game in a different context other than a semi, it wouldn't have been so gripping but later thought I was being a little harsh. I thought the move where they positioned for the drop goal was titanic ("Why's Jonny so far left? Isn't he going for it? Ohh...!!!") - it almost looked like they knew what they were doing.

I thought France never really looked like they had the 'fire' until the last ten minutes, and then - genuinely, I thought it was anyones.

Good times.

(PS - Didn't wholly approve of Sheridan taming Chabal by standing on literally the wrong side of a rolling maul and pulling his hair until the ref pointed out that it wasn't exactly cricket...)

Re: O/T RWC: Where are nickers & scragger when we want to gloat

hi
it would not surprise me to see England play there best game yet in the final and win but with a bit of entertaining rugby and a couple of try's.
what have they to lose, if the do lose they will still come home hero's the way they have played the last two game.
