| scottish sympathy Scottish Sympathy Bono, the lead singer of the band U2, is famous throughout the entertainment industry for being more than just a little self-righteous. At a recent U2 concert in Glasgow, Scotland, he asked the audience for total quiet. Then, in the silence, he started to slowly clap his hands, once every few seconds. Holding the audience in total silence, he said into the microphone, "Every time I clap my hands, a child in Africa dies." A voice with a broad Scottish accent, from the front of the crowd, pierces the quiet ............ . . . . . ."Well, foockin dont do it then! ![]() ![]() ![]()

| Re: scottish sympathy Of course I'm a wee bit biased but I have heard it many times, the Scots are some of the most friendly and generous people in the world. Prior to marrying I took my sweetie back to Scotland to meet my family, she is very interested in Scottish history so we toured around the country and she was amazed at the place. We spent a wonderful full day at St Andrews and I wanted to buy her a nice sweater at the woolen mill, prices of course are ridiculous averaging $120.00 Can. ( the same sweater in a good store in Toronto is much cheaper ). She examined the selection carefully then asked me what the difference was between " new wool and virgin wool " of course I could not resist it. I told her that virgin wool came from the sheep that ran the fastest, oh she said, not having a clue as to what I meant. why not !! |
