I agree with the two comments above. The downward hand action should be a natural drop that occurs because of a slight lateral hip bump toward the target. If you go the the top of your swing and try this hip bump watch your hands naturally fall into the slot. Be careful not to sway into the left side only the lower body should be bumped not the upper as well. Takes some practice but can be very beneficial for consistency and length as well.
