Cool Putting tips

I find that if I first line the putter in front of the ball to the hole and then take my stance, I am always lined up correctly. Then I take my stance and bring the putter behind the ball. Also, I am a proponent of placing the right index finger down the shaft. This prevents wrist movement and steadies the putter.
Just wondered if anyone else has tried this. My average putts per round ranges between 30-32.
