Re: Too much backspin??

Wrong.

Pythagoras gave us a wonderful theorem that allows anybody with a club, a ball, and a vertical surface to hit into determine their launch angle.

The poor man's version involves a tarp.

Hang your tarp. Make sure it can't blow around. Setup your ball (or tee) a known distance away (10 feet is nice). Put some cornstarch on your ball (or colour your ball with a dry-erase marker), tee it up, and hit it.

Note where it hit the tarp. Then measure how far up the tarp your ball made contact.

Now it's time for the Pythagorean Theorem. The distance from tee to tarp is your X axis. The distance from ground to impact less the tee height is your Y axis. Solve for the hypotenuse. Voilą! Launch angle.

PCS Class 'A' Clubfitter

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.

I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.

For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.
