Re: scoring in mixed medalford&stableford

hello ogallalabob, thanks for replying. If I may expand on my question. In the competition I was referring to,the front nine holes nett score - the stableford points scored= the winnner. It is one of the formats for a friendly comp.amongst say twenty members. So to illustrate,eg an 18 handicapper would have his gross score on the first 9 holes less 9.This is his nett score for the medalford format of the comp. For the back 9 holes,he would be be allowed a stroke for each hole, which would result in a score ie.1 under par=3pts,par=2pts,1 over par=1pt.The player would then add up his total of stableford points, subtract this number from the nett medalford format. The player with the lowest number is the winner. My question is,how would you split the handicap of an uneven number. In the case of say an 19 handicap player,is it correct to apply 9 strokes to the medalford format and 10 strokes to the stableford format,or in the case of say an 11 handicapper, would you then apply5 to the medalford and 6 to the stableford. I would appreciate your comments.
