I own a golf store, so I'll give you my opinion for what it's worth...
Yeah, the Momentus is good, but saying a heavy club should only be used, or that it should be used instead of hinged
clubs like the
Medicus or Refiner doesn't make much sense.
Let's look at a sporting example. I used to swim when I was younger. We used all kinds of training aids to refine our stroke. The swim coach didn't say, "Forget the kickboard, just use ankle weights!"
No... we used all depending on the situation. It doesn't matter how far I hit the ball if I make lousy contact and spray it all over the place. I live in South Carolina, and if you hit it in the trees, you're not going to get it.
The
Medicus and the Refiner are equal in my estimation and use. I have 4,400+ reviews that show the Refiner gets a slight edge. Sure, the DVD is lower quality, but who cares? Everyone seems to make the same mistakes, so you watch the DVD once or twice and then take it to the course.
As for the Refiner being junky, that is hogwash. It's solid - I wouldn't sell junk to my customers. Besides, my
medicus hinge rusts.
Finally, consider the price. Do you have any idea how much it costs to run constant infomercials all over TV? That is why the
Medicus costs twice as much as the Refiner. It has nothing to do with quality.
In my offline store, the
Medicus outsells the Refiner 2 to 1. I attribute this to Refiner Golf not marketing much offline. Conversely, in my online store, the Refiner outsells the
Medicus 2 to 1. If people know about the Refiner, they buy it.
Also, I have NEVER had a Refiner club returned. Ever.
Hope this helps.
