The Medicus is all right - the main thing it teaches you is to take the club away slowly (seeing as how you have to stop sometime, you might as well take the club away slow). The only problem I found with it is that no matter what mistakes you make in your downswing, if your impact position is ok, you'll hit the ball. The medicus might best be used with a friend to spot where the club is breaking down, or better yet, a video camera. The club will break where you make a major mistake (casting, breaking wrists far too early, etc), but it won't stay broken if you correct.
