compression or no compression

Okay, very confused. Just read entire thread on how to get spin. Compression or no compression? Does the ball get pinched or not. I tend to side with Brian, but I am left feeling confused on where to attack the ball. If it is below the equator, that is not really consistent with 3 skills.
Where to we strike the ball?

There are two methods - one is compression, the other is not.

We see compression on full shots and on the 'trap' chip where you get the old 'one hop and stop'.

The other method to generate spin is to 'whip' the clubface under the ball, 'slipping' it by - the flop shot is the imagery conjured up - a high, soft shot that spins and checks.

I'm not sure we ever want to strike above the equator (club CoG above ball CoG) otherwise we get a topped ball.

I can only imagine that 3sk is still ok - as long as your mechanics are OK your swing bottoms out after the ball (divot starts after the ball) and you get compression and a piercing trajectory.

Don't over-analyse! Trust your 3sk and hit your angles.

3 Skills does not actually want you to hit the ball above the equator, it uses imagery to help you hit the ball from the sweetspot. It explains that you should ignore the loft of the club and imagine the clubface is in line with the shaft, you then strike the imaginary nail with the imaginary shaft extension. In reality the leading edge of the club will strike the ball below its equator.

The other important point to take in from that video is that the hands and shaft are leading the clubhead at impact. This only changes with the driver where they will be level and the nail is imagined as being horizontal.

I watched the video several times and I can see how if you ignore the loft and extend the shaft you would be hitting the nail angle above the equator while in fact the blade is striking south of that. What club do you think is being used in the video?
