new convert to 3sk golf?

Hi everyone,

I am a very disillusioned 7 handicapper who strikes the ball, for the most part like a 15 handicap. In august 2006 I shot 2 under gross in a medal(off 5) and since then I have played to my handicap once in a medal. My head is so full of swing thoughts I sometimes forget to even hit the ball. Read the stuff on here and bought the book, then read the first part. I usually practice a lot but a mate dragged me out and with only a basic thought of hit down and turn through I was amazed at the quality of strike I achieved. Too early to say but my driving and iron play was as good as it's been for over two years! Cannot wait to read the rest and to get some serious practice in to ingrain the simple concepts involved Might even start to reverse the handicap slide?

Andy

Re: new convert to 3sk golf?

Whoops! Spoke too soon back to normal play today driving around 200 and irons all down on what I ought to be hitting - and still infuriatingly, despite a lot of practice still coming over the top!

Re: new convert to 3sk golf?

The thing that really helped out my ballstriking (and am not a 3SK guy, but understand the principle) was hitting the inside quarter of the ball. Interestingly, when I focused on the back of the ball, and hitting there, I'd still come from the outside to make that contact and hit pulls and pull slices. Once I moved my focus to the inside quarter I was fine. Perhaps move your nail a little more inside.

Re: new convert to 3sk golf?

Cheers Lowpost I will try anything to get back the power that I have suddenly lost and the lovely crunch of a well hit iron! sadly a thing of the past at the moment as I hurtle towards a double figure handicap.

I tried your tip today i.e. focus on inside quarter of ball. It really made a difference. Hit them much sweeter. Thanks.

Re: new convert to 3sk golf?

Glad it helped. For myself, I find I start to get confident and forget to focus on the inside quarter -- I forget to focus on anything at all! Needless to say, my ballstriking goes in the junk until I get back to focusing on the inside quarter. I realise I need to start getting 'target focused' but until then, I'll stick with the inside quarter.

PS: I used this for my driver as well during the last 3 weeks of the season, and hit my straightest drives ever.

Re: new convert to 3sk golf?

Hi Andy,

Put a waggle into you pre-shot, to show your eyes the line into the ball.

4.17 minutes into this clip is a good waggle:

3SKs is the best way to forget all other swing thoughts, but remember this: You must forget them or it does not work:

Re: new convert to 3sk golf?

Your head sounds like mine. I'm coming of a long layoff and my head is just spinning with what i need to get right to get good again. I have just ordered the book and it should be with me in about ten days. Cant wait. Keep us up to date with your progress.

Re: new convert to 3sk golf?

I am actually having quite a lot of success at just focussing on process not outcome. Every shot result is treated the same way emotionally and it seems to be working well.

so far!!!!!

Re: new convert to 3sk golf?

Great to hear, are you finding your outcomes are also improving since using 3sks?
