Re: i used the 3 skills and nailed it!

Many thanks for your encouragement. I certainly need some. In my time I have played great golf and there is no better feeling. But now I have had it. I will try to do what you say but I am doubtful that I can arise again.

OK mate. But the downturn in my game is unbelievable. I have been waiting all these years to play regularly and get better but it has all gone down the pan.

the game is so frustrating but youll soon get back there brian

how about this then, playing our par4 8th this morning i crunched a drive 278 yds leaving me an easy 125yd wedge shot what followed was ridiculous chunked my wedge into a water hazard, took a drop, chunked that, overshot the green, chipped on and sunk the putt for an 8

wrecked my card and felt like walking in but then parred 9, 10, 11 and 12

youre next great round is not that far away

Re: i used the 3 skills and nailed it!

Miffin,

I am coming up 61, took early retirement last year and am playing the best golf of my life. I am a great proponent of 3 skills and now that I play around 3 games in the week, my game is improving all the time.

For what it may be worth I think your problem is in your attitude, you seem to be very negative regarding your abilities and seem to be bent on giving in to what is probably a small swing issue. Sorry if this is not what you want to hear but you need to be more positive and have a mindset that you can do better and will. I respectfully suggest 3 skills is not your problem.

Re: i used the 3 skills and nailed it!

I appreciate what you are saying Brian. I retired about 18 months ago. I have been really looking forward to it so I could play more golf. I was using the 3 skills at the time and was looking to improving my game. Unfortunately it has gone down hill from there. Like I have said, I have tried REALLY hard. I have frequented the range and even got myself a pro. I think that might have helped to be the last straw he has totally confused me.

Bri,

Maybe you need to sit back and think through exactly what is going wrong with your game and why. Often the cause of a game going wrong is down to one or a few faults that once found are fixable. I know through experience that in the past I have become frustrated with things like shanking, wayward shots and poor ball striking, the causes are normally things like taking the club away too far inside, lifting up in the downswing, swaying, lack of rotation or the old 'Heave Ho' where you try to use too much force and come out of the shot. All these things can be fixed.

You say you are using a Pro and going to the range. The problem with the range is that if you keep repeating a bad swing it just gets worse, you will need to change something. Has the pro identified any swing issues and given you drills to fix them?

Another issue can be letting it all get over complicated in your mind. Working on a simple steady swing with a 9 iron is a good way to start,. forget distance and force just swing real easy and work on making better and better contact with the ball.

Don't give up mate! If you want to talk any issues through just PM me with them and I will do my best to help

Re: i used the 3 skills and nailed it!

There is no doubt that everyone goes though tough times with Golf regardless of their ability, it is simply a mind over matter and a definate lack of confidence.

As Brian says start back with the basics and a 9 iron, the 3SKs is not you problem, that never changes only you change your thoughts, steady confidence building is the key.

P>S My 3SKs is the best ever, just my putting has taken a turn for the worst, all of a sudden 4 footer seem impossible, missing right and left..............its in my head and I am sinking at least 100 every night this week till its gone.

Ian.

Re: i used the 3 skills and nailed it!

Thanks Ian. No, I don't think the 3sk is the prob, it is just me. It started around then though when I overdid the backswing inside bit. I know how you feel about the putts. Whenever I seem to be playing well my putting goes to pot!

Re: i used the 3 skills and nailed it!

Hi all,

new to the forum, only found this as I was looking into Dantes 4 magic moves, and came across this thread, and the 3 skills.

Have been playing 1 1/2 years, and having terrible trouble with a hook, caused by clubface closing before impact. Have tried everything to get rid of it but to no avail.

I tried 4mm today at the range, and was pleased with the results, and was about to purchase, but now seeing this, I might have changed my mind.

The main reason for this is that the 3 skills guys offer lessons, and without reading 41 pages of this thread, it seems some of you have been there and speak highly of them and the system.

Im willing to put the work in, I excercise regularly, am in a decent shape, goto the range most days, and in most sports i've ever done, i've gotten to a fairly decent standard within 3 months, except GOLF, lol. 18 months on, lots of hard work and still shooting 100+.

So, should I give it a go, or go down the 4mm route (which comes with some discomfort)

Edit: Also, can you really learn from just a book without video instruction?

Cheers

Paul

3 Skills may or may not transform your game, it will definitely give you a different perspective and clarify the important parts of ball striking. For the cost of a box of reasonable golf balls there is not much to lose

Hi miffin,

I saw your previous post about not arising again this time. Not to take his Name in vain, but Jesus has nothing on me. I've arisen several dozens of times from golf hell in over fifty years of playing.

It's usually a small thing, like overdoing a good thing. For me, I just found the reason for my poor shots in the last round was I was lifting the club with my arms, when I thought I was turning.

I see your reference to when it possibly started with overdoing the taking inside bit.

Take a look at the thread "driver woes" running currently and the video. It may strike a chord for you.

Regardless, you will rise again.

Good luck,

Ted
