| Re: Momentus Swing Trainer Newbie,
I went the Momentus route in training for long drive, I have since gotten rid of it as it almost caused me a neck injury. The design looks sound but it is not.
There are two things wrong with it and I'll give you a better and cheaper solution. The purpose for swinging a "heavy club" is to create more resistance. The first thing wrong with the momentus the shaft and head are both weighted. A normal golf club the head weights more than the shaft, you need to feel the clubhead during the swing, with the Momentus you don't. The second and most important is the extra torque it puts on the elbows and neck.
The fix to this:
A small amount of resistance is all one needs to keep the golf muscles in shape. While doing Long Drive this summer the concensious answer was to take a long cotton sock and rubber band it to a driver head. It will not only help show you your swing path but add just enough resistance to be benificial.
Do yourself a favor and don't hurt yourself,
