I don't mean to sound too involved here but when you say "grip the club with the last segment of the fingers where they meet the palm" but when I do this do I bring my hand up from underneath the club handle or from the side, I know this may sound crazy, but it makes a difference.

The ruler analogy helps. thanks guys.
