Re: Bore through drivers, how do you install a new

Well, with bore through drivers, you can't remove or fit a shaft yourself. There is a special piece of equipment called a "bore thru extractor" that removes the shaft from the bore in the hosel.

When you install a thru-bore driver, there is normally a taper plug in the hosel or with like the Callaway drivers, in the sole and that also requires special equipment becuase the tip of the shaft must be specially cut to fit the plug and bore-end.

Brand names like Ping, Callaway, Cleveland all require speical instructions that distributed to associated clubmakers giving instructions for each model of club and shaft. Some of them are pretty damn complicated.

If you have a thru-bore, take it an accredited clubfitter. A pro or club fitter who doesn't know what they're doing can break the shaft off inside the clubhead or even worse break the bore plug. Then, you have a serious problem.
