Pro scores and MONEY

I have always wondered about this.

On the PGA, when multiple people score the same score, and they place the same (i.e. 5 guys tied for second at -5), the next player is placed at the next available spot minus the number of players tied. So in this scenario, a -4 score would place the next player at 7th place.

Now I imagine that the tour adds the sum of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th places prize money and divides it up between the players who place second.

But, is there ever a time, when there are so many players tied, that a person with a lower placement (higher score) actually makes more money than his superior competitors? So the 7th place player makes more than each of the 2nd place players?

And is there a possibility that a player would shave a point in order to make more cash if this was true?
