I am a scratch golfer and was creeping lower and lower with lofts on my drivers but recently went back to 10 degrees and am hitting it longer and straighter then I ever have, callaway makes a 15 degree driver geared towards beginners and weekend hackers for this reason.

Double D I have just started playing golf - for about a year now - my driver is 9.5 degrees - would a higher lofted driver be necessarily easier to hit....

For you scratch golfers - is the game always a struggle... or do you reach a point at which you score consistently and you do not have the same kind of re-ocurring problems... with drivers and irons. Perhaps the game is more frustrating than normal since it is more difficult in the beginning.
