Re: driving

Since you are new to golf you will probably find what works today might not work tomorrow. Somehow you have made adjustments whereby you are squaring up the face of the club at impact. You are also hitting the ball at a different angle whereby you are not hitting the ball on the upswing giving you more range on the drive. Thing is when you learn some of the basic swing mechanics the angle of attack will change and you may find that this ball position no longer works.

You are like most people at the beginning of learning golf. We just swing at the ball and rely mostly on athletic ability to make subtle changes during the swing to make contact and guide the ball toward the target. This will work to a certain point but to gain consistency and improve your game take some lessons. You will then understand why the ball should be in the front of the stance with a driver. Good luck.
