Cool Re: Draw vs. Nuetral driver

Well I bought the taylor made draw driver convinced that it would cure my slice, the answer to that one was no but my slice turned into a slight fade overall was not worth the money you would be better investing in a few lessons instead.

No matter. I'll repost

Please be aware of the additional changes you'll see besides the obvious length change (we'll assume we're going from 47" to 44.5"). They are (and I list):

Your club will be 15 swingweight points lighter (but it probably swingweights high right now, anyway)
Your club will play 5° flatter (but this should be no big deal)
Your club will play marginally stiffer - perhaps it will start to approach 1/3 flex. Maybe.
Your club will weigh 8-12 grams less total weight. No big deal. Easier to swing all day long!

Long story short, you may find you'll throw it INTO whack by shortening it.

Pressed the "quote" button and then realised that this is actually quite an old post. Never mind I'll say what I wanted to say anyhow just in case it helps the OP.

On Ben's advice I had two inches taken off my driver; it took a little getting used to but suddenly clicked and and my ball striking - in terms of closeness to the sweet spot - improved dramatically.

We'll ignore the fact that over the last few weeks I've developed a laser guided push and to be fair I'm pushing it an awful further ; seriously though I'd say that 47" is way too long for most tour pros let alone the average Joe./

The guy I went to brought the swingweight back to spec by pouring what I assume was something like lead filings down the shaft but that might not be necessary.

Re: Draw vs. Nuetral driver

Hi there

I've only been playing for about a year, so probably not well qualified to comment. However, I had a terrible slice with my first driver, a Nike Ignite 410. I couldn't seem to get rid of the slice, no matter what I tried. I went out and bought a new driver, after trawling the web for lots of info. After trying a few out, I settled on a Cobra Speed LD Draw, thinking all my problems would be solved. Wrong!! I was still slicing my drives (and pulling my fast disappearing hair out!). I finally went for a lesson at one of my local courses, and that seems to have (almost) done the trick. I still slice the ball now and again, but have learned that it was my dodgy swing and not the driver that caused the slice. I have had my old Ignite out on the course, can now hit it ok (ish!).

Good luck!!
Stevie
