New Golf Bag Gizmo

With the wet weather and an improvement with my back I have been carrying a bag recently. The carry bag I had was getting on a bit (OK, OK! before anyone says it--- A bit like me ) So, I decided to buy a new one.

I looked around and was interested in this TRI-Bag that has been developed -- http://www.tri-bag.com/. Found a new one on EBay for a good price, ordered it Wednesday and it arrived today.

Looks good. Clever design that allows you to carry or pull it, the wheels are easily detachable and the whole thing is very light but strong. Looks like Ahem! my main club is open so will give it a trial run the weekend.

Re: New Golf Bag Gizmo

The course was open Sunday so played a round with the new bag. It worked well and is very flexible so that you can pull it but where more practical just pick it up and Carry it with a single or double strap.

The wheels are small in diameter but quite wide and work well. The ground conditions were somewhat wet and mucky so the wheels became mud coated quickly, they would be more effective in better weather when the ground is dryer (will it ever be?). They detach in seconds so I will probably leave them off until the spring and carry the bag.

Re: New Golf Bag Gizmo

As a fellow bag carrier, checked out this product's web page, following Brian's comments.

Whilst I am very happy with my carry bag, the only thing for me is the lightweight materials used seem to offer no waterproofing capacity at all and I've found (having played in the rain 2 of the last 4 weeks) that my grips are getting wet in the bag.

My clubs have corded grips and I keep my towel up under my umbrella, so I manage, but it would be nice on those rare wet days we have down here, not to have to think too much about keeping the grips dry.

Did your bag get wet with rain Brian, and did you have any hassles keeping the grips dry. Or at least drier than usual...?

It didn't get wet Scraggs but I know what you mean with lightweight bag material letting in wet. I would expect this bag to be similar. Thinking on this maybe the bag could be protected with something like Scotch-guard or Nikwax products to keep the rain out?

Any update on the tri-bag after using it a few months?

It's a good hybrid bag for summer use, the wheels are a bit small for use in wet conditions though. Overall I would say it's a good design and buy, light enough to be carried and nice to be able to pull it, especially on the last few holes.
