    Waterproof Top

OK folks not very exciting this, but I am looking for recommendations for a thin waterproof top/windbreaker type thing.

I thought the callaway top I purchased recently was waterproof, but as I found out the other day after a round in relentless rain it isnt at all.

I am looking for something quite thin, it does not need to keep me warm, just dry. I do have a waterproof pro-equip jacket, but I find it too restricting when playing.

    Any recommendations?

I understand the answer is Gore-Tex.

I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.

    Hi Spiffo.

I have a Mizuno Impermalite top and it is the Dogs. It is extremely light, absolutely waterproof and breathable, the sleeves pop off half way and it has a full length front zip and poppers that makes it very easy to put on and take off. Top quality at a reasonable price.

    Re: Waterproof Top

Thanks for replies gents. My new objective today is find this mizuno top in time for my weekend away outing in 5 days as I don't think I can rely on the Scottish weather.

If I can't find it anywhere I will look for something with goretex.

    Thanks again
    Paul

Well my visit to the varios golf shops in Edinburgh was a fruitless one for the Mizuno recommendation by Brian.

And the only ones that goretex in them I could see were the Galvin Green gear. Unfortunately I did not have £200 spare for one of their tops.

Anyway I have shopped around online and have ordered a mizuno impermalite top for £70. Im just gambling that it may arrive in time for this weekend.

If not I will be praying for a miracle of a dry weekend (yeah right).

I don't think you will be disappointed. I have worn mine in some really foul weather and it has kept everything out and is so comfortable and light. The way the arms pop off is a good feature for when it's wet or windy but warm. Typical Mizuno quality.

    Re: Waterproof Top

My new Mizuno top arrived today Brian. Thanks again for tip. Im delighted with it, exactly the kind of thing I was looking for.

Very thin and does not hamper my swing in anyway, yet to be tested for waterproofness but I dont doubt it will do the job!

    Cheers
    Paul.

I continue to be impressed how such a lightweight material can keep out the wind and rain so well and be breathable. I have worn it and the over trousers in some north Atlantic trawler weather and returned snug as a bug in a rug
