| Re: Smoke me a kipper...I'll be back for breakfast... talk about after the lord mayors show! round one of the highfield cup today started par, par, par and then couldnt putt for toffee! ![]() hitting drives solidly though the cold and damp kept the distances down and was really pleased with my irons but too many 3 putts added up and front 9 amassed 50. back nine much the same as the front but hit some quality irons into the greens leaving me some easier putts thank god! ended up with back nine 44 to total 94 nett 72 so still got a chance in round 2 tomorrow! went straight to pro shop after the round to book a putting lesson for next week!

| Re: Smoke me a kipper...I'll be back for breakfast... round 2 and didnt fare any better 96 nett 74! ![]() to be fair once again the weather was a hinderance. ![]() started well with par, par, par and then hit trouble on the 4th, the tee box was way over on the left so you have to draw the ball through the trees and i caught the lowest leaf on the lowest branch which saw my ball plummet to the bottom of the bank with no forward or sideways shot available so i had to pitch the ball back towards the tee box. then a misaligned shot saw me in the trees in the end i took a 8 on a hole that usually get a 5 on! i reality i played 13 holes really well and the other 5 showed why i am a high handicapper im having a 9 hole on course lesson with the pro tonight so he can highlight where im going wrong though i know already that i need to be able to putt a lot better than i currently do! today the weather is wet and windy just for a change!

| Re: Smoke me a kipper...I'll be back for breakfast... had my on course lesson tonight. pro was running late so he said we could use a buggy to get round quicker ![]() we agree to play 10-18 as that part of the course is quieter so i step up on the 10th tee a 411yd par 4 and bomb one down the middle when we get to the ball its level with the 150yd marker so i pull out a 7iron and hit a sweet shot to the middle of the green, i knock the 15 foot putt to 6 inches and tap in for par ![]() the next 8 are a mix of good and bad shots, perhaps a long day at work and hunger are not conducive to good golf. anyway pick up some great course management tips wihich will stand me in good stead! overall the pro was quite complimentary about my game but has given me stuff to work on! nothing major just minor tweaks but most of all (are you reading bulldog) i should relax more be less methodical and not be too hard on myself ![]() happy days ![]()

| Re: Slat's Journal happy days! finally played in warm sunny weather was invited to play in a fourball at a work colleagues club. very nice course @5300 yards quite hilly with some stunning scenery. playing against 12,16 and 18 handicappers so im well pleased to outdrive them all on the opening hole! front nine i took 44 and back nine 46 so i scored nett par for the round which was pretty good for a 1st attempt on a tight tricky course. all aspects of game today pretty solid and glad to say putting practice is starting to pay off. no comps this weekend so just social 18 tomorrow and a chance to practise on course with no pressure! have a good un guys n gals ![]()

| Re: Slat's Journal Glad you got to play some golf in nice weather Slats... Coming in to Summer season over there, yes, should be more the norm for now. Though, have seen it wet during Wimbledon... Playing to handicap is always a positive, you'll now know where you're improvement will come. Cheers ![]() |
