Re: Slat's Journal

bombed out in both comps sadly!
combination of inconsistent short game and not a lot of luck and sweltering heat
drove the ball well again but not enough GIR'S
spent 2 hours at the range tonight with the wedges and the putter practising from 60yds in
really enjoyed it and came away feeling a lot more confident

Re: Slat's Journal

played in the moongolfer.com northern masters today at kendal in the lake district.
short game practice is starting to pay off as i scored 22 points in the 9 hole warm up this morning
the weather clouds over as we are having lunch but im confident of doing well, we get soaked playing the first couple of holes but then it clears up and the rest of the round is played in warm breezy conditions.

pleased to say that all aspects of my game were sound today and i bagged the 3rd place with 37 points 2 behind the eventual winner.

could have been a win if i hadnt been so knackered over the last few holes and hit a few "armsy" shots

Re: Slat's Journal

Huzzah! Good job, old boy. A course you'd never played before?

Re: Slat's Journal

That's really cool - a third place on a course you'd never played before. I'm impressed, and slightly intimidated by that. I really need to start to get out there and play more courses, but am slightly concerned about how hard that process is going to be on my scoring. Good job!

Re: Slat's Journal

Slats,

Good job on the score. The good thing about playing different courses is one has to concentrate/think more. On the home course I reckon complacency sets it.

Re: Slat's Journal

wasnt going to play golf this coming weekend but late change of plans so i went to the club to enter saturday medal.
only one spot left, tee off @ 8.30am perfect!
i check the handicap board to see what handicap my playing partners are
one plays off 5 and the other one plays off 2!

You know what, you'll probably learn a lot of good stuff from these guys, just watch them, learn from their course management, you'll probably be surprised that they will not shoot for every pin and play percentage shots. With a bit of luck you will play above your level when playing with them.

Good luck.

Re: Slat's Journal

Have played a couple of rounds with our Club's 2 lowest markers, coincidentally, one is off 2 the other is off 6 and I can only endorse Snowmans comments Slats.

Watch and Learn.

I was longer off the tee than both of these guys and the difference was simply where I missed greens, they would both hit them and were we all missed greens, they would more often than not get up and down and I would get up and take 2 to get down.

You will have a great round with those 2 blokes Slats...

Only other thing that comes to mind is, just play your own game and enjoy their company. Don't go comparing your game to theirs, at least until you are safely back in the clubrooms with the frothies on hand....

Good luck
Cheers

Re: Slat's Journal

Better the group, better the golf will be Slats. Remember the First tee jitters you had some time ago. Apply the same principles.

Re: Slat's Journal

played 18 at a work colleagues home course tonight
front9 5,5,5,5,4,2,5,7,4=42
back9 6,7,4,6,5,4,6,5,4=47
89
-22 h/cap
=67
not bad for a first time visit
hit everthing quite well, 2nd shot with driver resulted in a sky high slice so i put it away and reverted to my 3wood which was absolutely on fire.

got home comp tomorrow so may well leave driver at home.
putting and chipping getting better by the round

have a great weekend boys n girls

Hey Slats! That driver has been working well for you recently. Don't give up on it over one skyed hit.
