Smile bruin's journal

since joining i have read many of the articles , tried a few , and settled on the swing outlined by jeff mann . this has cured my reverse pivot and coupled with my new clubs i purchased in nov/2006, i can at last see a steady improvement , and also consistency .
last thursday was the start of the summer league midweek pairs match play .obviously being match play ,putts are conceded, but usually only a foot or so. so i added up my score for the 17 holes we played and i was 7 under my club h/c of 24, which meant i played to a 17 h/c!
putting wise i took 35 , but quite a few were from 20 feet plus, so overall a good result.
one tip i got with regards to putting , is to be a little knocked kneed , which has stopped me moving about and added consistencey to that part of my game.
i have also left my driver out and just tee off with a 3 or 5 wood and am hitting 75% of the fairways .
so thanks to all of you for the interesting posts and helpfull comments/tips i will hopefully report a drop in my h/c soon , now that would be nice!

Re: bruin's journal

Good job, Bruin! Smart to pull the driver, and hit more fairways. Somedays, I can hit the driver, and some days, it's all over the place. would that I had the discipline to tee off with the 3 wood on those days.

Re: bruin's journal

onto the 2nd summer league match, against a 9 and a 27 h/c pair .both young and fit , thought it was going to be hard work not to get hammered.my contribution to the front 9 , won 3 holes, so 1up at the turn.won the 10th then my partner joined in and we were 1up on the 16th tee having just lost the 15th to a birdie . both opponents elected to hit a driver down the 16th which has oob on the right and a ditch on the left.so they both drove o.o.bounds and messed up there 2nd tee shots , so we won and went to the 17th, 2up.managed to par that and won the match.thinking back, our opponents having won the 15th and got within 1 hole of a draw just blew up , whereas i felt on the 1st tee that we were going to get murdered, funny old game!!
back still playing up , using ibprofen to help during a game , and resting ,no practice at present.putting went well again.
