| Re: Gohan's Journal Keep up the good work and always be honest about your scores. When I started I was carding 130s but some of my friends egos were to big to do the same. Now (4 years later) I am shooting legitamate low 90s and they are still carding BS high 90s and getting more and more frustrated (because they know they are shooting 100-110+). Look forward to hearing about your improvement. |

| Re: Gohan's Journal My best score over 9 holes is a 42, yet only 2 weeks ago I carded a 116 over 18 holes (best 18 hole score is 95 - shot the day before yesterday). 118 is not a bad score for your first round of 18. A lot of issues come into play that you normally never need to worry about over 9 holes, such as fatigue, dehydration and low blood sugar levels. There is also a completely different mental strain because you need to concentrate for a lot longer, and the elements that can affect your mental game can be enhanced when you play double the amount of holes as you usually do. Make sure you have plenty of water to drink or perhaps sportsdrinks like Gatorade. Fast carbs are needed too - bananas, chocolate bars or energy bars. And you might want to work on some fitness elements. Playing 18 holes is an entirely different game from playing 9, and need to be learned all over again.

| Re: Gohan's Journal Well today I went to another tournament at Los Lagos G.C. In the morning I bought 4 Gatorades for 6 dollars at my golf clubhouse before we left. Last year I would usually play there for tournaments. We'd play the back 9. Well I teed off and I bogied the first hole which is a par 5. I forgot my sand wedge next to the bunker and I didn't realize it until the next green. I sort-of ran 400 yds. foward and back and I felt like throwing up because I am sort-of out-of -shape. I went on and played the rest of the front 9 (I had never played these before) and I got a 58. I lost like 4 balls on the front nine. We moved to the back nine and I never lost a ball. I used the same one from the 10th tee to the 18th green. I got my first par in my life on a par 4 (pathetic huh?) and I went on to get a 50 on the back nine. So total I got a 108!! To think I did worse at my home golf course than at another . Oh and on the 12 hole, the cart girl came and I bought 2 more Powerades of 2 dollars each. So I guess I had enough fluids for the back 9. I thought I wouldn't buy any more so I said to myself 2 on the front and 2 on the back. Well it turns out 2 on the front and 4 on the back! I think that's why I didn't do so well at the other golf tournament. At first I thought I would be very tired by the 13th hole but I wasn't. I didn't feel tired until I sat down in my mom's car. On one shot with my sand wedge I could have made a birdie if it had rolled only 2 more inches. Then it would be my first birdie in my life. All day my leg was getting scratches every time I put on my bag. I never knew what it was until the 18th tee. I went into my bag to get a ball and I found out that the brush was the culprit. Well at least the very wirey part. I have about 6-7 scratches.BTW do you guys know any good drills to help me rotate my hips instead of swaying. I tend to sway in the downswing. When I got the Sumo, the person told me that I was swaying and that I need to rotate my hips. Any input would be nice.

| Re: Gohan's Journal Well I've been a bit to lazy to keep up with my journal for the past 2 months. Well let me tell you the last golf tournament I went to. On the first nine I got a 46 (par 32) and on the back I got a 58 (par 37). On the first hole (par 5) I lost my ball in the thick, thick grass to the left so I maxed out on that hole. The second hole (par 3) I decided not to try to muscle it with my 6 iron because to the right was a street. So I used my 3 hybrid and did a smooth and relaxed swing. I miss the flag to the right by 10 yds. and I got my self into the bunker. I made bogey there. The third hole (par 4) my drive went straight to a house window . So I played another shot sice that was OB. Luckily, the house had fenced of the windows so incase a ball like mine came around, it wouldn't break the window. I really don't remember that well because the tournament happened 1 month ago. I think I got double bogey. Well the next hole (par 4) I was the only one who landed their ball in the fairway with the driver! That made me feel good. Well, on the next shot I got myself into the greenside bunker. I got it out and I 2 putted andI got a bogey. The next hole was really something. It was a dog-leg right par 4 with water filling the right side of the dog-leg. I HIT A PALM TREE WITH MY DRIVE. I really thought that I got myself into the water. When I got to where I think I lost my ball, I found my ball 20 yds. from the hole!. I got my second par. I also got my third par on that course. On the 16th hole par 4, I got my ball stuck to the right of the left water hazard. Since I didn't want to drop, I hit it lefty with my club upside down. My ball went straight to the right about 30yds. Atleast I got myself into the fairway. There were other things that happened in the tournament but I won't go into specifics because I think I wrote too much. After the tournament, the second hole at my home course I got my first birdie! Well that's all. Well, if you guys want to give me some advice, may you please give some advice on putting some backspin on my pitches? I've had trouble stoping the back on the greens. It always bounces off the green and goes another 10 yds. Also, may you guys please give me some advice on turning my hips instead of swaying foward. My head stays behind the ball but I just want to turn my hips.

| Re: Gohan's Journal My dad bought me some new Nike Ignite irons. They had to send an order to the factory to make the steel shaft 1.5 in. longer because of my height . I also had the grips changed to some midsize Winn grips. It took them about one week for them to get here and for the grips to be replaced and for the lie to be flatten. Well I'm getting used to them and the first time I hit my 9 iron on the range, I HIT IT 150 YARDS !!!!!!! I was amazed. But then I got to my 5 iron.... I HIT IT 200 YARDS....with a small draw . When I tried to hit my 3 hybrid, I would always top it. Apparently I am afraid of breaking it. I feel much better with these clubs. All I need to do is lengthen my driver by 1.5 in. and flatten the lie. Well I got into the golf team at my high school and I got onto the Varsity team and I am only a freshman . The only bad thing about it is that I have 2 day tournaments and each day I have to play 18 holes. I'm used to playing only 18 holes on one day and rest the next day but not play consecutively. My first tournament is next week. Anyone have any pointers on how to survive the second day? On another story, I have been able to hit my driver 225 yds. It seems I have really been improving from my 7th grade year. I used to hit 150 with my driver and now I hit 225. Amazing. Since there is no golf class at our school even though there is a golf class at other schools in my district, I have been able to loose some weight in P.E. I can do 30 crunches in 1 min. which I really think is helping my game. Well until next time I play in a golf tournament. Thanks for reading my journal.
