Chip with hybrid
If you have problems with chunked or inconsistent chips, here's one of the best tips I ever got for chipping close to the green: use a hybrid and set up to and hit the shot as if it is a putt.

The sole of the hybrid will glide on top of the grass even if it is thick and uneven, the ball will fly a bit and then roll. Distance will be about the same as when hit with a putter.

It works for me!! I am not sure, yet, thought, how close I need to be to the greens - I usually do it from just off of the greens - I use my 5 hybrid.

Good tip. Watched Sam Torance do the same with a 3 wood during the Qatar Masters a few years ago. Tried the 3 wood and had some success but inconsistant. Would think the hybred a better option. Thanks will try it and keep you posted.

I tried it the other day, from about 5' off the green, worked pretty good, but have to get used to the different swing weight, even though choking up on the club.

I bought an Integra 4 hybrid a couple of weeks ago and I did this not long after I bought it. I have in the past used a 3 wood and even a driver for the same thing, but neither provided the results of the Hybrid. It seems to work very well for me and really helps me get across long greens from just off the putting surface.

I've never tried chipping with a hybrid. I usually use a 7 or 8 iron.

I have used a 3 wood, but found that I couldn't control distance very well.

I have also used a putter!!!!! If the ball is sitting down in the fuzzy stuff, place it towards the back of you stance. Striking the ball on the downward part of the swing-arc makes the ball "pop" up and rulease across the green.

I recently tried this tip and found it to be pretty helpful. The ball comes on the club really nice and solid, just need to get the distance control down. Great tip
